From Door-to-Door to Cultural Sponsorships to Digital Sales Consultant
As a teenager, I traveled across Germany, going door-to-door to recruit members for one of the largest NGOs in the country. Week after week, I was stationed with local groups, informing residents about pressing topics and key achievements. I loved the travel, the engaging themes on-site, and standing up for causes I cared deeply about. It sparked a passion—a calling.
After several years, I felt it was important to gain commercial expertise. Art, culture, and hospitality became my focus. As an event manager, I learned how to market my concepts, knocking on doors with precision, securing renowned sponsors, and building a diverse network of entrepreneurs. For some, I even developed business plans, sold those cases to investors, and provided private equity for my business partners.
When the pandemic struck, I had to pivot away from my core focus on cultural events. After careful consideration, I decided to dedicate myself to selling products and services I could support with conviction. Ethically, the solar industry was a clear choice, and I immersed myself enthusiastically in digital sales. This decision paid off. At what would later become the leading unicorn in the industry, I contributed in both pre-sales and sales. My performance—often surpassing over 250 colleagues in certain months—caught the attention of the C-level executives. This earned me the opportunity to act as a test case for innovative digital sales processes and workflows. It even led to a project pitch with the Sales Director, Stephan Rink, and other decision-makers, where I presented strategies to tap into untapped potential for the company.
Following further successes, I accepted an offer from a competitor, where I had the honor of winning the "Best Newcomer" award in my very first month. The following month, I received the "Outstanding Performer Award," which recognized the top sales managers across seven European countries where the company operated.
With comprehensive insights into cutting-edge and sustainable sales structures, as well as my contributions to shaping today’s digital sales standards, I reflected on the business plans I had previously crafted for others. I decided to refocus and developed a business plan titled "Agency for Renewable Energy Concepts," which laid the foundation for my self-employment as a Sales Consultant.
My clients—long-standing major players in the solar industry with decades of experience—entrusted me with the role of Head of (Digital) Sales. In two cases, I built digital sales departments from scratch, and in another, I set up a digital team to compete with an established 40-member "offline" sales force.
The advantage was that the best sales managers frequently reached out to collaborate on these projects. Together, as digital sales managers, we were not only more cost-efficient but also outperformed conventional teams significantly, despite having fewer resources.
Having supported over 2,000 solar projects and contributing to substantial CO2 emission reductions, I’m thrilled to now receive inquiries from exciting new industries. For instance, the winners of the Helsinki Fashion Awards—who offer a unique and sustainable resale solution for fashion brands—are expanding into the Benelux and DACH regions with our support. I also provide talent acquisition services, including relocation support.
